PRCS and ICRC Organize Movement Induction Course & IHL Workshop in Karachi
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross, and international federation of red cross and red crescent societies organized a Movement Induction Course & International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Workshop in Karachi.
The workshop brought together participants from different provincial branches across Pakistan to strengthen humanitarian knowledge and cooperation.
Day 1 focused on building a comprehensive understanding of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. Participants learned about the Movement’s historical background, humanitarian mission, and core principles. In addition, the sessions highlighted the importance of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and its role in protecting human dignity during conflicts and emergencies.
The workshop officially commenced with opening remarks by Madam Farzhana Naek (Chairperson), Rehan Hashmi (Chairman PRCS Sindh), Andreas Weissenberg (Head of Delegation IFRC), and Christoph Sutter (Head of Delegation ICRC).
They emphasized unity, humanitarian values, and collective efforts in serving vulnerable communities across the country.
Furthermore, participants actively engaged in interactive discussions and learning activities throughout the day. The sessions encouraged knowledge sharing and strengthened collaboration among humanitarian workers from different regions of Pakistan.
The workshop also provided an excellent platform to promote humanitarian principles, voluntary service, and teamwork. Through these sessions, participants enhanced their understanding of neutrality, impartiality, and humanity while exploring the practical application of IHL in humanitarian work.
