PRCS Sindh Launches Large-Scale Evacuation and Relief Operation
The PRC Sindh Branch has initiated a large-scale evacuation and relief operation in response to flooding along the Indus River
In areas including Sued Mari, Soorjani Bund, and adjoining kacha regions, PRCS has mobilized its District Disaster Response Teams (DDRTs)
Community Disaster Response Teams (CDRTs) to safeguard vulnerable communities. So far, more than 1,000 families have been safely evacuated, while approximately 1,500 livestock have also been rescued from low-lying riverbank areas.
This PRCS Sindh evacuation and relief operation spans multiple districts, including Dadu, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, Sujawal, Thatta, Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Shikarpur, and Badin. According to Provincial Secretary Kanwar Waseem, displaced families are being temporarily sheltered along the right and left embankments of the Indus River.
He emphasized the urgent need for tents, non-food items, and safe drinking water, while stressing that close coordination between PRCS field teams and government departments will be critical in managing the crisis.
In a parallel development, the Sindh Rehabilitation Department has restructured the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Complaint Redressal Committee, appointing the PRCS Secretary as its new independent member.
With both humanitarian response and institutional engagement, the Pakistan Red Crescent Sindh continues to play a leading role in disaster preparedness and relief efforts across the province.
