Transformative Journey: Jamati’s Success Story
PRCS Sindh Health Camp in Sehwan Transforms Community Lives
Jamati, a 30-year-old mother from Bhandhari village in Union Council Bajara, Sehwan Tehsil, struggled to care for her family due to limited income and poor healthcare access. With a household income of just PKR 12,000 per month and seven children to support, seeking medical treatment was often delayed. The nearest hospital was 36 kilometers away, creating additional financial and cultural barriers for her family’s healthcare needs.
A major turning point came when the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) organized a health camp in Sehwan. For the first time, Jamati and her community accessed quality healthcare close to home. The PRCS Sindh health camp offered free medical checkups, medicines, and awareness sessions on hygiene and nutrition.
Jamati also received hygiene kits, insecticidal nets, and cash assistance worth PKR 96,000. This support enabled her to improve her family’s diet and invest in goats, ensuring both nutritional benefits and long-term financial stability. The goats provided milk for her children and created potential income opportunities for the future.
The impact was life-changing. Jamati’s children received timely medical care, which significantly improved their health. She also gained knowledge about hygiene practices and early illness detection, empowering her to better manage her family’s well-being.
The PRCS Sindh health camp in Sehwan not only addressed immediate medical needs but also strengthened community resilience. By combining healthcare services with financial support and awareness programs, PRCS created sustainable change in vulnerable communities. Jamati’s story is one of many examples showcasing how PRCS Sindh continues to transform lives across the province through its community-based healthcare initiatives.
