Celebrates 78th Anniversary with National Conference on Humanitarian Diplomacy
The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Sindh Branch proudly celebrated its 78th anniversary, marking a historic milestone since its establishment by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the first Governor-General of Pakistan. This significant occasion reflects PRCS’s long-standing commitment to humanitarian service across the country.
To commemorate this achievement, PRCS Sindh organized a National Conference on Humanitarian Diplomacy on 21st December 2025 at the IBA Auditorium, Garden Campus, Karachi. The event brought together leading intellectuals, Heads of Departments, bureaucrats, development professionals, and representatives from the media.
Moreover, the conference served as an important platform for meaningful dialogue and collaboration. Participants discussed the growing relevance of humanitarian diplomacy in addressing today’s complex challenges. In particular, the sessions focused on public health, climate action, Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), and International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
In addition, the event was organized under the dynamic leadership of Chairman PRCS Sindh, Mr. Rehan Hashmi, along with the dedicated Managing Committee.
Their efforts ensured a well-structured and impactful conference. The presence of the Honourable Governor of Sindh / President PRCS Sindh as the Chief Guest further highlighted strong institutional support for humanitarian initiatives.
During his welcome address, Chairman Rehan Hashmi emphasized the increasing importance of humanitarian diplomacy in Pakistan. He highlighted how climate-induced disasters, health emergencies, and social vulnerabilities require coordinated humanitarian action. Furthermore, he reaffirmed PRCS Sindh’s active role in promoting humanitarian values across Sindh and beyond.
He also stated that humanitarian diplomacy remains a vital tool for protecting vulnerable communities. Through advocacy, partnerships, and principled action, PRCS Sindh continues to safeguard human dignity and save lives. As a result, the organization strengthens resilience at both community and national levels.
Overall, the conference reaffirmed PRCS Sindh’s vision of fostering humanitarian awareness and cooperation. It also reinforced the organization’s commitment to addressing emerging humanitarian challenges through diplomacy, innovation, and collaboration.
