PRCS Heat Wave Response: “Beat the Heat” Campaign

In response to the emerging climate and health crisis, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) launched a series of heat wave relief camps under the slogan “Beat the Heat” on 9th June 2023.
These camps became vital hubs for delivering relief and support to communities affected by extreme heat wave conditions.

  • Referral services for further medical support

Through these efforts, over 300 beneficiaries received life-saving relief during the 2023 heat wave

Heat Wave Preparedness in 2024

During the summer of 2024, temperatures in Sindh soared to 40°C between May and July. In response, heat wave preparedness trainings were held at the Provincial HQ Training Centre.

As part of the response strategy, PRCS established heat relief camps in:

  • Karachi
  • Dadu
  • Larkana
  • Shikarpur
  • Khairpur
  • KSK

These camps provided shade, safe drinking water, public awareness sessions, and distribution of IEC materials, ensuring thousands were protected from heat-related illnesses.
