Stockpile Project: Strengthening Preparedness and Response to Epidemics and Pandemics

Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), with the support of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), launched the Stockpile Project in May 2024 to enhance national readiness against emerging infectious diseases

This initiative focuses on building preparedness and response capacity for epidemics and pandemics, ensuring the availability of essential public health equipment, and strengthening workforce competency to manage health emergencies effectively.

As part of the project’s first activity in Sindh Province, a three-day training titled “Epidemic Control for Volunteers” was held from 19th to 21st August 2024. Volunteers from seven districts participated in the training, which emphasized outbreak response techniques, stockpiling strategies, and public health coordination.

The Directorate General of Health Services also participated, offering vital collaboration and technical support to strengthen multi-stakeholder response mechanisms.

This training marked a significant step toward empowering communities and volunteers for rapid, coordinated responses during disease outbreaks.
